Lift Planning In Memphis

The Local Lift Picture

Memphis combines a dense riverfront downtown with a vast spread of warehouses and distribution centers to the south and east. Downtown high-rises near the riverfront and along Main Street carry rooftop mechanical equipment above streets that also host trolley lines, event traffic and tourists near Beale Street.

The Medical District holds hospital and research buildings packed close together, with mechanical yards on roofs that are often surrounded by taller structures. Access for a crane is frequently limited to a single service lane, and an aerial pick can reduce the time that lane is closed.

The logistics belt around the airport and southeast toward the state line holds massive single-story roofs. Those buildings are a mix: many are fine for a crane, but large equipment batches set far from the edge can favor aircraft.

What We Lift

Services In Memphis

Rooftop HVAC / RTU

RTU and condenser replacements on downtown, Midtown and Medical District buildings with limited ground access.

Cell & Comm Towers

Antenna and mount work on towers across Shelby County and into the surrounding Mid-South.

Steel & Structural

Structural steel and roof framing for downtown renovations and building conversions.

Utility Work

Line and structure work across bottomland and flood-prone ground near the river and its tributaries.

Signage, Solar & Equipment

Rooftop signage, solar arrays and equipment on warehouses, offices and retail.

Weather & Scheduling

Memphis summers are hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Spring frequently brings severe weather systems through the Mid-South, and winters can bring cold fronts with strong gusts and occasional ice. Wind channeling along the river and between downtown towers is also considered during planning.

Typical Buildings

Typical targets include downtown office and hotel towers, hospital and research buildings, Midtown mixed-use and older commercial structures, East Memphis office buildings, and large warehouse and distribution roofs.

Roads, Closures & Coordination

Downtown and Medical District picks often require street or lane closure coordination, and some sites are near airport airspace or the river. We coordinate with the GC and owner to identify what the City of Memphis, Shelby County or other parties need for your specific location, and avoid assuming a one-size answer.

Straight Answer

Helicopter Or Crane?

When A Crane Is Fine

Most single-story warehouse work with open truck courts, and suburban office or retail picks, are well suited to cranes.

Where Aircraft Helps

Aircraft helps when downtown streets or a hospital service lane would be closed too long for a crane, when units sit deep on large roofs, or when ground access is soft or flooded.

Trailered Mobilization

Memphis is reachable via I-40, I-55 and I-22, so trailering an aircraft in is a practical option when the aircraft and project are suitable.

FAQ

Memphis Lift Questions

Do you serve DeSoto County and West Memphis too?

Yes. Projects on both sides of the state lines around Memphis are part of the area we plan for.

Can you work in the Medical District?

We can plan for it. Hospital operations, airspace and street coordination drive scheduling there.

Are warehouse roofs a good helicopter job?

Sometimes. If units are far from the edge or numerous, aircraft may help. Otherwise a crane is often the better value.
